We are seeking an experienced Engineering Manager for our Newcastle Plant near North Shields, Tyne and Wear.

Our future Engineering Manager will join the site management team to support manufacturing operations.   You will be responsible for maximizing equipment and process performance by reducing time losses and increasing the reliability and efficiency of the production lines.  The job holder will support the Plant Manager to ensure that production, site and departmental targets are achieved.  KPI's include safety, reliability, planned maintenance, repairs spend, line efficiency, waste and customer complaints.

Responsibilities include the day to day management of the Engineering team and apprentices, leading and developing them in accordance with the local HR policies and corporate procedures.  Other duties include but are not limited to maintaining site facilities, identifying equipment and process improvements, fulfil statutory duties, resource planning, manages spares inventory, project planning, ensuring departmental compliance to safety, quality and hygiene procedures and regulations. 

About you
This role is based in a fast-paced production environment and in order to succeed, the successful candidate is likely to be a degree qualified, electrical or mechanical engineer, with a self-motivated approach to all tasks with excellent people skills.  You will require outstanding communication skills as you will be required to manage communications and feedback to employees and manager’s alike.  You have previous responsibility for managing a team, working knowledge of Lean/Six Sigma and have worked a minimum of 5 years in a high volume manufacturing environment.   A safety first mind-set is essential and a "hands on" approach would also be advantageous. 

Annual salary is £57,000 exclusive of employee benefits such as company pension scheme and health insurance scheme.
