About the role

You will work as an integral part of the Packaging Sciences Section, working across the Pack Testing and Technical Support teams to provide support to Eviosys’ operations and project leaders in complaint resolution,
defect and materials investigation, and the development and qualification of new packaging materials and formats. 

 

The role will primarily involve supporting pack testing and technical support activities whilst completing a part time distance learning Chemical Science Degree at Manchester Metropolitan University.

Key Responsibilities

 

The role will primarily involve supporting pack testing and technical support activities whilst completing a part time distance learning Chemical Science Degree at Manchester Metropolitan University.

 

Pack Testing involves:

  • Support to can filling activities
  • Sample labelling and storage
  • Sample opening, including vacuum and headspace measurements
  • Sample inspection and image capture using cameras and various microscopy tools
  • Sample analysis using various test methods such as coating weight and adhesion checks
  • Insightful interpretation and formal reporting of results and updating the Work Management System

 

Technical Support involves:

  • Sample labelling and storage
  • Recording of sample information
  • Sample photography and microscopy
  • Use of various investigative and measurement techniques such as sample mounting and cross-section, dimensional measurements, leak testing, product analysis (pH, anions etc.)
  • Insightful interpretation and formal reporting in a timely manner of technical data with clear conclusions and recommendations for further actions where appropriate

 

In addition, the role may involve supporting other R&D activities and projects on site as required.

Key Skils

 

Essential

  • Applicants should have a minimum of 104 UCAS points at A-level (grades BCC), with one being chemistry or an equivalent scientific discipline.
  • Competent computing skills and knowledge of Microsoft Office
  • Good written and verbal communication skills (including the ability to present scientific data)
  • Ability to balance workload with on-the-job training 
  • Take responsibility for personal development, demonstrating commitment to learning and self-improvement 
  • Commitment to safe-working requirements
  • Ability to work in a team 
  • Self-motivated, reliable candidate with good time management skills

 

Desirable

  • Experience working in food packaging, food production or protective metal coatings
